Hello!
I would like to introduce myself to those that haven’t met me. I’m Marti Marron and I am the newly elected President of our Unit 166 American Legion Auxiliary. I have been an active member and many of you may recognize me as the volunteer coordinator who helped organize volunteers for the many functions at the Post. Pat McConnell will be taking on that role for Sunday Football volunteers.
I am looking forward to our continued success as an organization and am happy to see so many active members. We had a busy summer season. We look forward to a busy fall as well.
Many of us attended the Department of Mary- land American Legion Auxiliary Convention in July. Our Unit was recognized and received many awards: Membership Awards; Americanism; Chap- lain; Children and Youth; Education; Gold Star; Public Relations; National Security; Past President’s Parley; and Poppy.
All members are invited to our monthly membership meetings that are held the third Tuesday of every month. We start with a social hour from 6 to 7 p.m. with our meetings starting at 7. We encourage everyone to get involved in any way they are able. No act of volunteerism is too small. From making cards, or stuffing envelopes for flyers, to fluffing poppies, to volunteering at large and small events. Everything is appreciated and important.
Consider chairing or being a co-chair for one of our programs to help us with our mission to serve veterans and the community.
We have many exciting fundraisers and events coming up, so reach out to see how you can be a part of this great group of people! There is something of interest for everyone!
I want to take this time to thank Karen Thompson for the past couple of years as Auxiliary President. Karen’s leadership and efforts, her time spent on so many activities for the Post, veterans, and the community, are appreciated. Thank you, Karen!
I also want to acknowledge Kirsten Brown for all she did for our Auxiliary in the time she was here. Although she and Scott have moved to Florida, she is keeping her membership with us and will be back for some of the upcoming events. She will surely be missed!
